About Break Republic
About Break Republic
Japanese green tea, matcha and hojicha from growers we visited ourselves in Japan and tasted at their own table.
Break Republic sells Japanese green tea that we selected at the source. We flew to Japan, spoke with nine producers, tasted everything straight and as a latte, and chose four. Everything in the shop was tasted at the maker's own table.
We start with two classics. Matcha is finely ground green tea, whisked into a lively bowl full of umami. Hojicha is roasted green tea: warm, nutty and naturally low in caffeine, made for the evening.
Both are packed in Kakegawa and shipped from the Netherlands: a calm gift for anyone who loves a real break.
FAQ
FAQ
Which teas can I give as a gift?
Only Japanese green tea. We start with a matcha and a hojicha from Yamaei in Kakegawa. Teas from the other producers we visited in Japan will follow once the agreements are settled.
What is the difference between matcha and hojicha?
Matcha grows for weeks in the shade and is ground into bright green powder: lively, creamy and full of umami, lovely in the morning. Hojicha is roasted: warm, nutty and very low in caffeine, made for afternoon and evening.
Where does the tea come from?
From producers in Japan we visited ourselves, in Uji, Shizuoka and Kakegawa. Each product page shows the region, and once agreements are settled also the maker behind the tea. Packed in Kakegawa, shipped from the Netherlands.
How fast is delivery?
We ship on working days from the Netherlands, with track & trace. In the Netherlands 1 to 3 working days (EUR 3.95, free from EUR 39). To Belgium, Germany, France and Spain 3 to 6 working days (EUR 5.95, free from EUR 60).
Can I return a gift?
You have 14 days to change your mind from the day you receive your order. Tea is a food product, so opened packs cannot be taken back for hygiene reasons: returns are only possible unopened and in the original, sealed packaging. Email info@break-republic.com.
How should the recipient store the tea?
Airtight, cool and dark. Green tea easily takes on moisture and smells. Once opened, matcha is at its best within a few weeks, so choose a size that will actually be finished.
